Paloma Povedano fue cantante de la formación Ojos de Brujo durante el periodo en el que la banda dio a luz su primer disco: el álbum Vengue! (Edel Music, 2001).
En su primer CD Eolh, (Ventilador Music 2006), producido artísticamente por Paloma, colaboraron varios artistas de la escena mestiza de Barcelona, como Joan Garriga, Wagner Pa, Sebi y Sandro de Macaco, Oli Mû de 08001, Muñeco de Amparanoia, Javier Mas guitarrista de Leonard Cohen, entre otros.
Su segundo album AHORA (Ventilador Music 2009) es un disco de evolución a claros toques femeninos, canciones y tempos más calmados, evocadores de elegancia y suavidad, que vuelve a apostar por la FUSIÓN: el encuentro sin temor desde un extremo a otro, desde el flamenco, a la música más vanguardista, la electrónica (Vuela, Paisajes), de las influencias del folklore, hacia la World Music o música étnica, colores de África o el encuentro con Cuba (África, Guajiro) pasando por los matices más negros y aterciopelados del soul o el jazz (Distinta, Sentimiento)
En Ahora contó con la producción artística de Carles Campi Campón (productor y multiinstrumentista que ha realizado trabajos con Jorge Drexler, Martín Buscaglia, Tactequeté, la Shica…), a Josete Ordóñez en los arreglos, virtuoso guitarrista de flamenco jazz que ha trabajado con Melendi, Mónica Molina, Ana Salazar…
Tras su participación en el año 2010 en el Festival Euromed, recorriendo la Europa del Este con el projecto de formación internacional «OLEA» (Tunez, Polonia, Serbia y Hungria) Paloma ha encontrado una nueva inspiración y músicos para canalizarla en un nuevo disco de claro enfoque en la escena World Music

Una selección de los mejores artistas de músicas del mundo, de 28 países diferentes, elegidos por el prestigioso Dj Charlie Gillett: Manu Chao, Yasmin Levy, Youssou N’Dour, Justin Adams & Juldeh Camara y Jorge Drexler además del grupo ALMASÄLA son unos de los 34 artistas que han sonado, de la mano de este DJ, durante el año pasado en la BBC Radio.
De la calidad de estas propuestas también se han obtenido increíbles críticas de The Sunday Times, The Independent, entre muchos otros medios. FORMACIÓN
En el directo la acompañan en un interesante formación que conjuga los instrumentos más tradicionales de diversas músicas de raíz (panderos árabes, tambores africanos) con los últimos avances y máquinas electrónicas (secuenciadores, samplers, live, theremin) y un sólido apoyo melódico de la guitarra flamenca, bajo y mandola.

El proyecto
Tercer proyecto y album musical de ALMASÄLA
Es el resultado del trabajo de investigación en la fusión de la música de raiz de Paloma Povedano a caballo entre flamenco y folclore andaluz, y las músicas de raiz de diferentes paises del mundo predominando el entorno mediterráneo (Serbia, Francia, Egipto, etc..)
No deja de ser sin embargo primordialmente un trabajo de desarrollo de un camino musical propio de Paloma que anda siempre en dirección de nuevos caminos de composición a un flamenco renovado que viene a formar parte de la creciente escena WORLD MUSIC
El trabajo
Desde 2010 Almasäla ha trabajado en contactar con músicos de diferentes nacionalidades que han desarrollado su carrera en torno a la fusión de las músicas de raiz, invitándoles a colaborar en el desarrollo y composición de las diferentes canciones compuestas por Paloma mediante las nuevas herramientas que ofrecen actualmente la tecnología, permitiendo de ese modo trabajar en la distancia mediante las redes de internet
y comprobar que este modo de trabajo no merma la calidad musical del proyecto y en cambio ofrece posibilidad de trabajar con músicos de todo el mundo, siempre y cuando dispongan de los medios mínimos para ello (pequeño estudio móvil de grabación )
El resultado
Es el incipiente tercer album de Almasäla DIVERSITAS que ahonda en el mismo espíritu de creación de esta artista desde su primer trabajo, el de compartir la creación con otros músicos y artistas y seguir la investigación en el camino de fusión con las músicas de raiz y por ende de las culturas de los diferentes pueblos del mundo

the project
Third musical project and album Almasäla
It is the result of research work on the fusion of roots music from Paloma Povedano straddling Andalusian flamenco and folk, and roots music of different countries dominate the Mediterranean region (Serbia, France, Egypt, etc. .. )
No longer primarily a job but a way of developing their own musical Paloma who is always in the direction of new ways of composition at a renovated Flamenco becomes part of the growing scene WORLD MUSIC
